Winter 2023 is now behind us, but there is no question of losing our good energy habits. For 2024, you must prepare your sobriety plan now to reduce the consumption of your buildings.
Advice from our Sobre Energie experts to be ready:
What is the energy sobriety plan?
Faced with soaring energy, electricity and gas prices, the government has decided to launch a vast energy sobriety plan in October 2022. The objective for businesses and communities? Reduce the consumption of their buildings by 10% by 2024 , compared to 2019.
This winter, many actors took action:
- Limitation of the heating setpoint temperature to 19°C
- Switching off lights and electrical equipment in the evening and at weekends
- Renewal of lighting with LEDs that consume less energy than traditional bulbs
- Insulation and thermal renovation work…
In total, according to RTE, the French electricity network manager, these efforts have borne fruit: electricity consumption fell by 8% during the winter of 2022-2023 and that of gas by almost 13%.
Energy savings to continue next winter: “ We must transform the actions that were taken this winter into regular actions and make this sobriety a part of our customs ,” according to Xavier Piechaczyk, President of the RTE board of directors
How to achieve energy sobriety?
It is now in 2023 that you must establish your strategy to continue or launch a sobriety approach to your buildings.
-
Monitor all consumption of your fleet
The key is to first understand why and how your buildings consume energy. Our SAAS energy management software and its digital services help you answer these questions and optimize your consumption. We centralize and make your energy data reliable:
- Distributor index and supplier invoices in kWh, CO2 & €
- Multi-fluid energy mix
- Vision park or at the scale of a building

Identify the most energy-intensive buildings
Moving from the macro vision to a focus on your priority buildings: this is what our Pareto by Sobre Energie .
It helps you identify at a glance the most energy-intensive sites based on their surface consumption, therefore the highest priority, to know where to act. Either according to their consumption in kWh, kWh/m² or by typology.
This Pareto tool highlights sites with major energy issues, on which to focus your sobriety actions. This is where you will have the quickest impact to optimize your energy consumption.
It is useful to equip these sites with connected ambient sensors: these IoT sensors make it possible to transmit temperature, brightness, humidity and presence in real time, to detect consumption anomalies. For example if the heating setpoint temperature is 23°C on one floor, instead of the 19°C recommended by the sobriety plan.7

Prioritize action plans through audits
Do you know where to act first? But what actions should be implemented as a priority? The operating audit carried out by our energy managers is designed to help you decide on the measures to be implemented in the short term:
- Configuration of heating/ventilation/air conditioning equipment
- State of consumption
- State of disrepair
So many decision support indicators provided by this audit. It can be supplemented by a real estate audit, which proposes medium and long-term action scenarios (new equipment, work on the building envelope, relamping, etc.) based on ROI in kWh, CO2 and €. Packages of actions which will serve, beyond the sobriety plan, your regulatory compliance strategy (Tertiary Decree, DDADUE law).

Initiate and follow action plans
At Sobre Energie, we are convinced that the success of the energy transition of buildings requires Data and People.
Beyond data, the key is to be able to mobilize and coordinate your teams, managers, technicians and occupants, in an approach of sobriety.
Our energy management software serves as an interactive dashboard to manage actions, measure the number of connected users, actions completed or pending. Adjust as needed. Reporting indicators, site by site and over time.
-
Measuring the performance of your sobriety plan
Month after month, you can measure the impact of the actions taken by your teams on our SAAS software:
- By site concerned
- By type of fluid (electricity, gas, ENR, etc.) in €, kWh and kWh corrected for climatic variation
Our impact? In two years, we helped one of our clients save 62,000 MWH on its building stock
