The energy efficiency plan is a major issue for companies seeking to reduce their environmental impact while making savings. The La Poste Group was able to meet this challenge by relying on the energy management platform and the expertise of Sobre Énergie.
The government's energy sobriety plan
In October 2022, the French government launched its Energy Sobriety Plan with the objective of a 10% reduction in energy consumption over two years. La Poste, faced with a large and geographically fragmented real estate portfolio, had to find solutions to access energy data and identify sources of energy loss. This is where Sobre Énergie intervened, which had already been monitoring La Poste's real estate portfolio for two years as part of the “Power 10,000” energy transition project.
Energy efficiency is a crucial issue for companies seeking to reduce their environmental impact while making savings. Energy management tools, such as those offered by Sobre Énergie, make it possible to collect and analyze consumption data to identify sources of energy loss and implement appropriate action plans. Awareness campaigns and training workshops enable teams to be mobilized and their skills improved.

The La Poste case
La Poste has 240,000 employees in 63 countries for a turnover of 35 billion euros.
For La Poste, energy efficiency is both a challenge and an economic imperative. The group's energy bill has quadrupled in two years: from 95 million euros in 2021 to 380 million euros in 2023.
In France, La Poste operates 35,000 access points to a postal service and a real estate portfolio of 10,000 buildings, or approximately 6 million m2, an energy consumption of 1 TWh (49% electricity, 42% gas, 6% fuel oil, 2% CU) and an overall emission of around 130,000 tonnes of CO2 each year.
DataMARC, our dedicated energy management platform
Thanks to our DATAMARC NEO energy management platform , Sobre Énergie was able to cross-reference consumption data and identify the 3,000 most energy-intensive buildings. The indicators provided by DataMARC allowed a “building” reading of consumption and its developments, taking into account even the consumption of the electric vehicle fleet. Sobre Énergie experts also provided advice and tools to mobilize occupants, managers and La Poste technical teams in this energy sobriety approach.
Employee commitment to energy sobriety
Sobre Energie experts have also provided advice and tools to mobilize occupants, managers and La Poste technical teams in this energy sobriety approach:
- Eco-gesture campaign per season (posters, newsletter, challenges) to influence behavior.
- Energy performance action plans to improve the operation of equipment.
- “Energy sobriety fresco” workshops to train teams and improve their skills.
The Sobre Energie platform made it possible to measure the level of mobilization of the teams throughout the project and the impact of the actions in terms of kWh, CO2 and euros.

Energy sobriety actions implemented
With DATAMARC NEO
- Analysis of consumption on a representative sample of 900 buildings, or 50% of the surface area of the park.
- Monitoring of room sensor data to optimize the set temperature.
- Implementation of energy performance actions from a catalog of more than 400 actions.
On the advice of our energy experts
- The group has implemented 12 eco-friendly actions (adapted temperature setpoints, turning off lights, LED relamping, combating standbys, removing domestic hot water, etc.)
- Energy reviews on priority sites have enabled the implementation of actions to improve the operation of buildings
The results of La Poste’s energy sobriety plan
The results are there: La Poste exceeded its initial objectives by reducing its electricity and gas consumption by 14%, including -11% on electricity and -24% on gas.
La Poste Immobilier even obtained 11 awards during the Cube energy savings challenge.
This success has enabled Sobre Energie and La Poste to build a partnership for the future to continue to support the group's energy transition.
La Poste is a concrete example of success in terms of energy efficiency. By relying on the tools and expertise of Sobre Énergie, the company was able to significantly reduce its energy consumption while mobilizing its teams and making savings. This approach is beneficial both for the environment and for the company, which can thus improve its energy performance and reduce its costs.
Finally, it is important to emphasize that energy sobriety is a collective issue that concerns our entire society. Businesses have a key role to play in this energy transition, but they cannot act alone. Public authorities, associations and citizens must also commit to this path to reduce our energy consumption and preserve our planet. Energy sobriety is therefore a challenge to be taken up together, for a more sustainable and responsible future.
